I hope everyone is doing great! Thank you for your patience the past month of missed blog posts and switch-a-roos. I appreciate you guys sticking it out. My wifi just got set up about an hour ago, so I will not have time to complete our world building posts today. They will for sure happen next week though!
I did want to share some cool things we’ve seen out here in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. Right now the herring are spawning (laying eggs) for the year. There is a lot of aquatic life in the area, especially if you’re out on the island. As a result there are a lot of birds and seals following the fish. I’ve also heard that killer whales and dolphins have been spotted as well, but I have not seen them (yet) personally.
Here’s some photos from the beach in Deep Bay, BC (Deep Bay is out on Vancouver Island.
So, above those white dots are all seagulls actually and the thing in the water is a seal. They were coming up quite close to the beach so I was about 10-15 feet away from them. It was pretty awesome.
After playing on the beach we did go see the Cathedral Grove. It is a ancient forest on the island. Some of the trees are 800+ years old. They are huge. The biggest one in the forest is over 800 years old and will make the Leaning Tower of Pisa look like a twig. It’s insanely beautiful in there and if you get the chance to go see it then I strongly urge you too. It’s wonderful. Here are some pictures from there:
And this is the big guy:
Other than that, We had a good drive out to Vancouver and we had a lot of fun on the island while we were there. We’re still settling into our new place and getting to know Vancouver.
Let me know if you guys want more pictures or to be kept up-to-date on my adventures in Vancouver and area. I’m going to be exploring quite a bit when I have the time.
Until next week!
WAIT, TOTALLY FORGOT THAT THERE IS A BONUS POST ON SATURDAY FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
